Please keep in mind that the pricing schedule below are baseline costs for a single simple-mechanical embodiment and assume qualifying for a small entity fee discount (generally companies with less than 500 employees, and/or universities or other institutions of higher education). After a discussion in which we determine the complexity of an application and the number of embodiments (aka alternatives, variations), we can provide a more accurate estimate.
When you file a patent application, you should expect to pay the filing fee and between two and four Office Action responses before issue, abandonment or appeal. The costs are due over time with the first Office Action usually arriving between six months and two years after filing.
